Day 98 - Snapper Rocks
Snapper RocksFriday, 26 April 2013
As it was a sunny day and no wind so I went kayaking over to the other side of the bay. It was a long paddle across clear and fairly smooth water so I was able to observe the fish and seagrass. I stopped at a beach covered with shells and went for a walk up on the sand dunes. Then paddled to a tiny island at the end of the point. Had a walk on the island and I paddled around the island. I saw a large sting ray (my first in Shark Bay) swimming in front of the kayak but I was unable to photograph it.
As I was paddling back I counted the number of fishing boats (generally small tinnies) in the bay - there were ten. Probably why I have not seen any dugongs or dolphins for days as the noise probabaly makes them go to a quieter part of Shark Bay.
Afternoon spent walking with Tuka, reading and eating as the strong southerly winds were back again. Tried some fishing but no luck. That evening tried to photograph the full moon. Enough light to walk around without a torch.
