14 Mile Beach

Day 114 - 14 Mile Beach

14 Mile Beach

Today was supposed to be the calm day - no wind. The van is rocking as I write this so that prediction was bloody wrong. This morning I have just worked on the photos in Lightroom on the computer, done some reading and had short walks with Tuka.

Tuka and I went for a walk to the beach and sat watched the reef and the waves on the shore. I saw a small turtle stick his head out of the water about 20 metres from shore. Watched him for about thirty seconds and the turtle was gone. The only marine animal I have seen all week!

Later on I saw three large birds walking in the desert scrub. I identified them as Australian Bustards about a metre tall with a long white neck and a chesnut back.

Went kayaking late in the afternoon. The wind was still blowing and the waves broke over the bow but it was the calmest sea this week.
