Point Quobba

Day 105 - Point Quobba

Point Quobba

Friday, 3 May 2013
Had breakfast and a walk with Tuka. Then down to the bay to go snorkelling. The reef starts only a few metres from the shore in places so it is not hard to find fish and coral while snorkelling.

Low tide in the morning so a lot of the reef was in less than a metre of water. Lots of colourful fish and coral all over the lagoon. Over near the island there was a deep hole that had larger fish.
Back at camp had morning tea, a walk with Tuka and some reading.

More snorkelling water level higher and currents near end of the island. More fish and corals. Fish are not worried by snorkellers. On the way back to shore I saw a blue-spottedray that was swimming and feeding. Fish would swim around the ray while he was feeding trying to get the leftovers.

After lunch went for a snorkel and then a walk on the island. Lots of gulls and terns on the island.
About five Tuka and I went to another camper's site and five of us had drinks, nibbles and a talk.
