Day 107 - Point Quobba
Point QuobbaSunday, 5 May 2013
Up at 7am Tuka and I went for a walk to the headland. Then we had breakfast outside. Another walk, talk to a few campers and then some reading followed by morning tea.
Went for a snorkel in the shallow area- some places it was so shallow I could touch the bottom with my hand. Small fish and a variety of corals and sponges. Then over to the deep hole near the headland. I kept still and the fish started swimming around me. At one time I had about a hundred fish swimming around me, looking at the camera and my mask and also nipping me on the legs and back.
Back for lunch, some reading and a walk with Tuka.
Another snorkel this time at the ed of the island. Saw a long very skinny fish about half a metre long - very strange. Plenty of other fish of different colours and sizes in amongst the variety of corals.
Afterwards took Tuka down for a swim, had a cuppa and talked to some of the other campers.
Back to Carnarvon tomorrow to wish Michael a happy birthday. Then onto to Warrora Station to maybe stay for a week (probably no reception).
