Day 109 - 14 Mile Beach
14 Mile BeachTuesday, 7 May 2013
Awake early, had breakfast and ten a walk with Tuka. Started to put the kayak together. Patched the flotation tube and so will not be able to use the kayak until tomorrow.
The caretaker called around and I paid for a week ($7.50/day or $37.50 for a week). They suggested I move as a big windy change was coming through in the afternoon and my site was very exposed. I packed and moved down to Site 20 as part of the site is behind a low dune. I still have 120 degree view of the ocean and reef. It has the advantage that there is a path down to the sandy beach. Much better for Tuka.
Talked to some of the other campers. They are a good distance away from my site so I don't have any neighbours. While talking we saw a Nankeen Kestrel. They had seen an Osprey earlier in the day.
Went for a swim and a snorkel. Snorkelling not much good because there was a lot sediment in the water. Spent the rest of the day walking, photographing and reading. The wind arrived late in the afternoon.
