Moore River Bridge to Sandy Cape

Day 75 - Moore River Bridge to Sandy Cape

Moore River Bridge, Guilderton, Nilgen Nature Reserve, Cervantes, Sandy Cape

Wednesday, 3 April 2013
Woke up early, had breakfast and took Tuka for a walk. Said goodbye to some other campers, packed up and headed off by 8am.

Drove into Guildford and had a look around. Then drove to the Nilgen Nature Reserve. Lookout gives good views over the grass trees, banksias and heath plants.

Then onto Nambung National Park to see the Pinnacles. Thousands of limestone pillars, up to 4 m tall, rise out of the yellow Spearwood sands in forms that resemble tombstones and jagged, sharp-edged columns.

Then drove to Lake Thetis near the town of Cervantes to see the stromatolites. The stomatolites grow around the lake perimeter and are the oldest known living, single celled organisms. Short drive to the Hansen Bay Lookout which provides views of Hansen Bay and Cervantes.

Drove into Cervantes bought bread and milk and drove through Jurien Bay and then to Sandy Cove Recreation Park. I set up camp, had a swim with Tuka, said hello to the next door campers and their two dogs (one a chocolate lab) and then had a late lunch.

Another swim and then a walk on the sand dunes with Tuka. Saw emu tracks and then three emus on the sand dunes.
