Day 71 - Alfred Cove to Fremantle
Alfred Cove, Kings Park, South Perth, Mill Point, Perth, FremantleSaturday, 30 March 2013
Visited the Old Mill in South Perth. It was built in 1835. Unfortunately it is was closed today so unable to look inside.
Went to the Botanic Garden in Perth. walked with Tuka around the State War Memorial, looked at the view of Perth CBD and the plants and then put Tuka in the van. I then walked to the 750 year old Boab Tree (Gija Jimula). It was transported 3200km from northern WA to Perth by truck. This was the longest land journey of a tree of this size in history". Then walked along the Federation Walkway and back to the van. Then drove around King Park. Stopped and had a couple of walks with Tuka.
Drove to Fremantle to meet Michael and Ashlee as they had flown to Perth this morning. Met Michael, Ash, Krystal (Ash's sister) and Willie (Krystal's boyfriend) at the Norfolk Hotel, Fremantle. First time Michael had seen me clean shaven in decades. Had lunch and a chat and then Willie led Michael and I on what turned out to be an afternoon craft beer pub crawl. One of the pubs was the Sail and Anchor where we tried beers by the Feral Brewing Company. Ash and Crystal went shopping and joined us at different pubs along the way.
